About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Move air cargo within the designated warehouse
  • Load and unload cargo from pallets and containers
  • Build up cargo for outbound flights
  • Break down cargo from import flights
  • Load and unload cargo to and from semitrucks
  • Operate basic cargo-handling equipment such as forklifts, aircraft pallets, and pallet jacks
  • Check freight piece count, weight, dimensions, and documents when accepting or delivering cargo
  • Transport cargo to and from aircraft using a 3,000 lb. vehicle and attached carts
  • Read off-load sheets to determine cargo destinations
  • Perform aircraft push-out and towing functions
  • Use proper ground-to-cockpit communication via hand signals and voice commands
  • Complete forms and messages related to assigned functions
  • Perform routine cleaning of work areas, ramps, and facilities when assigned
  • Assist in monitoring facility security
  • Follow WFS site security procedures and report security breaches, suspicious occurrences, or non-compliance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand English
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and days off
  • Ability to judge distances
  • Ability to successfully communicate with others
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a high-noise-level environment
  • Must join the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and pay union dues
