About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Transport, load, and unload air freight containers from aircraft within confined areas
- Push, pull, and position loaded air freight containers weighing up to 3,200 lbs.
- Remove tie-downs and other gear when loading and unloading
- Read off-load sheets to determine Express package destinations
- Operate ramp equipment with gross weights of 3,000 to 80,000 lbs. in congested aircraft and vehicle areas
- Position vehicles up to aircraft
- Engage in aircraft push-out by driving an 80,000 lb. vehicle or assist the driver with guiding and communicating with the cockpit during push-back
- Understand and react to verbal commands and safety warnings, with or without sight or visual aids
- Move Express packages from aircraft to warehouse to trucks in a cross-dock operation with no or minimal storage
Requirements
What you’ll need- Willingness to work beyond standard hours during peak times; overtime eligible per law
- Valid driver's license
- 18 years and older
- High School Diploma or GED or international equivalent
- Ability to read, write and understand the English language
- Must be able to work weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), holidays, and days off
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, and days off
- Ability to judge distances
- Ability to successfully communicate with others
- 1 year forklift experience
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather, including rain and wind
- Ability to stand for an entire shift and move long distances across facilities
