About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Load and unload cargo, mail, express, freight, and company material on and off aircraft
- Transport cargo between terminals and aircraft
- Perform ramp transfers of cargo as required
- Receive, deliver, and physically handle freight and company material at designated express docks
- Handle mail and baggage in the outbound baggage room
- Complete forms and messages necessary for assigned functions
- Comply with WFS site security procedures
- Report security breaches, suspicious occurrences, and non-compliance with the site security plan
- Load and unload aircraft cargo weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Push, pull, and position loaded containers weighing up to 3,200 lbs. on rollers
- Drive vehicles weighing 3,000 to 80,000 lbs. in congested aircraft areas
- Perform or assist with aircraft push-out procedures
- Transport cargo using vehicles and attached carts
- Read off-load sheets to determine cargo destinations
- Use ground-to-cockpit hand signals and voice commands during push-out and towing
- Pull, push, and lift bags weighing up to 70 lbs. onto or from conveyor belts
- Connect water hoses and KVA electric cables to aircraft
- De-ice aircraft at heights of 20–80 feet using glycol
- Confront and report unauthorized personnel in secured areas
Requirements
What you’ll need- HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, and days off
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to work in all types of weather and environmental conditions, including jet engine fumes, vehicle emissions, dust, and jet engine noise
- Ability to distinguish red, green, and yellow
- Ability to work in a high-noise level environment
- Ability to understand and react to verbal commands and safety warnings
- Ability to judge distances
- Ability to communicate with others
- Ability to confront and question unauthorized personnel in secured areas
- Must report to work on a regular and timely basis
