About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Troubleshoot, disassemble, inspect, clean, repair, replace, test, adjust, assemble, install, service, fabricate, and inspect aircraft passenger loading bridges, baggage transport systems, aircraft ground power generators, HVAC systems, aircraft ground portable water units, and related equipment
- Comply with WFS site security procedures
- Monitor and report security breaches, suspicious occurrences, or non-compliance with the site security plan
- Order, receive, inventory, secure, or disburse parts and supplies
- Certify the quality of own workmanship
- Work with assigned Mechanics as needed
- Follow FAA and Company regulations, procedures, and supervisor instructions
- Complete work-assignment forms and communicate with Company personnel
- Operate and drive ground-service vehicles and equipment
- Work under trucks and equipment and in restricted spaces
- Work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and days off
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and days off
- Ability to read, write, fluently speak, and understand English
- Ability to troubleshoot, disassemble, inspect, repair, replace, test, adjust, assemble, install, service, fabricate, and maintain aircraft passenger loading bridges, baggage transport systems, aircraft ground power generators, HVAC systems, aircraft ground portable water units, and related equipment
- Ability to work underneath trucks and equipment for extended periods
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and hold equipment and components weighing up to 100 pounds
- Ability to lift, connect, and remove 40-pound, 200-volt KVA electric cables overhead
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding
- Ability to drive vehicles weighing up to 10 tons in congested areas
- Good depth perception and ability to distinguish required colors
- Ability to operate power tools and other tools
- Ability to read and interpret printed or computerized maintenance manuals
- Ability to complete forms and paperwork legibly
- Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, and work in tight or restricted spaces
- Ability to work in variable weather, environmental conditions, and high noise levels
- Must join the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and pay union dues under the collective bargaining agreement
