About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Marshall aircraft upon arrival and departure
Load and unload cargo on and off aircraft
Safely drive and operate ground support equipment, including belt loaders and tugs
Transport cargo between the terminal, warehouse, and aircraft
Connect and remove ground power and ground start units
Perform water servicing
Perform aircraft pushback, wing walking, and related guide man functions
Maintain a secure work environment
Coordinate with team members and flight crews
Complete paperwork and use scheduling systems
Assist passengers and handle luggage

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school diploma or GED equivalent
Ability to lift and handle heavy baggage and cargo up to 50 lbs or more
Valid driver's license maintained throughout employment
Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and flight crews
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and nights
Basic mechanical aptitude for operating ground support equipment
Ability to pass background checks and comply with airport security regulations
Attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols
Fluently read, write, and speak English
Must join the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and pay union dues
Ability to lift, push, and pull cargo up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 75 lbs
Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing stairs
Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow
Manual dexterity for handling documents, operating computers, and using two-way radios
Ability to remain on feet for extended periods, up to 8 hours or more
Clear vision and hearing
Capacity to work in confined and noisy environments
Previous aviation or ground handling experience preferred
Familiarity with aircraft types and airport layout preferred
Knowledge of airport safety regulations and protocols preferred
Experience operating ground support equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and forklifts preferred
Basic computer skills preferred
