About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Marshall aircraft upon arrival and departure
  • Load and unload cargo on and off aircraft
  • Safely drive and operate ground support equipment, including belt loaders and tugs
  • Transport cargo between the terminal, warehouse, and aircraft
  • Connect and remove ground power and ground start units
  • Perform water service
  • Perform aircraft pushback, wing walking, and related guide man functions
  • Maintain a secure work environment
  • Monitor WFS staff, security contractors, and visitors for security concerns
  • Report security breaches, suspicious occurrences, or non-compliance with the site security plan
  • Comply with the WFS site security plan for the assigned warehouse

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to lift and handle heavy baggage and cargo up to 50 lbs or more
  • Valid driver's license maintained throughout employment
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and flight crews
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and nights
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for operating ground support equipment
  • Ability to pass background checks and comply with airport security regulations
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Must join the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and pay union dues
  • Preferred: previous aviation or ground handling experience
  • Preferred: familiarity with aircraft types and airport layout
  • Preferred: knowledge of airport safety regulations and protocols
  • Preferred: experience operating tugs, belt loaders, and forklifts
  • Preferred: strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Preferred: excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Preferred: ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Preferred: basic computer skills for paperwork and scheduling systems
  • Preferred: customer service orientation and positive attitude toward passenger interactions
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull cargo up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 75 lbs
  • Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the airport terminal or warehouse
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and climb stairs
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow
  • Manual dexterity for handling documents, operating computers, and using two-way radios
  • Ability to remain on feet for extended periods, up to 8 hours or more
  • Clear vision and hearing required
  • Capacity to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to work in noisy environments
