About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Load and unload cargo, including mail, express, baggage, freight, and company material, on and off aircraft
  • Transport cargo between terminals and aircraft
  • Perform ramp transfers of cargo as required
  • Receive, deliver, and physically handle freight and company material at designated docks and baggage areas
  • Complete forms and messages necessary for assigned functions
  • Load and unload trucks, handling individual items weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Move loaded cargo containers weighing up to 8,500 lbs. using ground support equipment such as forklifts
  • Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Work in a high-noise, fast-paced airport environment while maintaining safety awareness
  • Maintain security awareness and report unauthorized personnel, security breaches, suspicious occurrences, and non-compliance
  • Follow safety, security, and operational protocols
  • Maintain reliable attendance and report on time to support operational schedules

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and days off
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather and environmental conditions, including jet engine fumes, vehicle emissions, dust, and jet engine noise
  • Ability to distinguish red, green, and yellow colors
  • Ability to understand and respond promptly to verbal instructions, safety signals, and operational commands, with or without visual aids
  • Ability to accurately judge distances and spatial relationships in tight or restricted spaces
  • Must join the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and pay union dues under the collective bargaining agreement
