About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Load and unload cargo, mail, express, baggage, freight, and company material on and off aircraft
- Transport cargo between terminals and aircraft
- Perform ramp transfers of cargo
- Receive, deliver, and physically handle freight, company material, export shipments, mail, and baggage
- Complete forms and messages required for assigned functions
- Comply with WFS site security procedures
- Monitor and report security breaches, suspicious occurrences, and non-compliance
- Drive vehicles weighing 3,000 to 80,000 lbs. in congested aircraft and equipment areas
- Position loaded containers weighing up to 3,200 lbs. on aircraft rollers
- Perform or assist with aircraft push-out and towing procedures
- Communicate with the cockpit using hand signals and voice commands
- Read off-load sheets to determine cargo destinations
- Pull, push, and lift bags weighing up to 70 lbs. onto or from conveyor belts
- Connect water hoses and 40 lb. KVA electric cables to aircraft
- De-ice aircraft at heights of 20–80 feet using glycol
- Confront and report unauthorized personnel in secured areas
- Report to work regularly and punctually
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and days off
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to work in all types of weather and environmental conditions, including jet engine fumes, vehicle emissions, dust, and jet engine noise
- Ability to distinguish red, green, and yellow
- Ability to work in a high-noise environment
- Ability to understand and react to verbal commands and safety warnings
- Ability to judge distances
- Ability to communicate successfully with others
