About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Marshall aircraft upon arrival and departure
  • Load and unload baggage and cargo on and off aircraft
  • Safely drive and operate ground support equipment, including belt loaders and tugs
  • Pick up and deliver baggage and cargo between the terminal and aircraft
  • Connect and remove ground power and ground start units
  • Perform water service
  • Perform aircraft pushback, wing walking, and related guide man functions
  • Maintain a secure work environment
  • Support the timely delivery of cargo, luggage, and business-to-customer deliveries while helping ensure on-time flights
  • Join the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and pay union dues under the collective bargaining agreement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to lift and handle heavy baggage and cargo up to 50 lbs or more
  • Valid driver's license maintained throughout employment
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and flight crews
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and nights
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for operating ground support equipment
  • Ability to pass background checks and comply with airport security regulations
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols
  • Fluent reading, writing, and speaking of English
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry baggage or cargo up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 75 lbs
  • Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the airport terminal or warehouse
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and climb stairs
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow
  • Manual dexterity for handling documents, operating computers, and using two-way radios
  • Ability to remain on feet for extended periods, up to 8 hours or more
  • Clear vision and hearing
  • Capacity to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to work in noisy environments
  • Preferred: Previous experience in aviation or ground handling operations
  • Preferred: Familiarity with aircraft types and airport layout
  • Preferred: Knowledge of airport safety regulations and protocols
