About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage warehouse operations and airport ramp operations for efficient handling of Express packages
- Facilitate daily cross-dock throughput of packages from aircraft to warehouse to trucks with minimal storage
- Lead the team according to structured processes and guidelines, prioritizing safety
- Work hands-on with the team to move packages throughout the facility
- Ensure customer satisfaction, safety, security, and quality exceed standards for the assigned shift
- Maintain and control operational requirements during the shift in accordance with the corporate security program and TSA legislation
- Plan, organize, lead, and control staff in a diversified, multicultural work environment
- Develop next-level leaders and managers in leadership and management skills
- Supervise staff to meet business needs and carrier Service Level Agreement standards
- Ensure Lead Agents and Warehouse Agents follow safety rules and standards
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing candidates, and making hiring decisions
- Assist with employee relations and conflict resolution
- Prepare performance appraisals and provide input for counseling and terminations
- Maintain security compliance with Toledo Express Airport, Airport Police, TSA, USCBP, and FAA regulations
- Challenge persons without airport identification badges in WFS warehouses or Airport Operational Areas
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and ad hoc operational reports
- Complete injury and damage reports
- Authorize or ensure post-accident and post-injury testing
- Assist customer representatives with compliance reports and audits
- Maintain airport employment records and appointments, including badge appointments and USCBP interviews
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree required
- 8–10 years of leadership and management experience required
- Airline, logistics, or transportation experience preferred
- Leadership skills with the ability to train and develop personnel
- Ability to continually respond to and prioritize within a fluid work environment
- Clean driving record and valid driver's license; DMV printout required
- Ability to work across the 24/7 schedule based on business needs
- English proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening
- Ability to lift and carry freight weighing up to 75 lbs.
- Basic use of office equipment, including copier, fax, calculator, and POS system
- Computer literacy and proficient use of MS Office and Kronos
- Knowledge of advanced arithmetic and mathematics
- Knowledge of airline codes, prefixes, and common cargo abbreviations
- Comprehension of airway bills
- Ability to prepare written documents, communications, and counseling notices
- Ability to follow instructions from the Terminal Manager and customers
- Ability to act in a managerial position and direct Supervisors
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varied temperatures and weather conditions
- Ability to stand for an entire shift and move long distances across facilities
- Regular and punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
