About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Financial Readiness team
  • Establish expectations, manage performance, and foster accountability, learning, and service excellence
  • Evaluate workflows, remove operational barriers, and implement scalable solutions
  • Oversee financial education, resource navigation, and distribution of financial assistance
  • Use data, reporting, and performance metrics to monitor outcomes and inform decisions
  • Manage complex, escalated, and urgent cases while mitigating risk
  • Partner with mental health, benefits, and employment teams to coordinate holistic support
  • Lead change management and adoption of new processes, tools, and strategies
  • Maintain compliance with policies, program guidelines, and documentation standards
  • Attend required training and meetings, including New Teammate Orientation, WWP Cares, ASIST Suicide Prevention training, Leadership training, culture/team-based training, and departmental huddles
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Five years of experience in financial counseling, financial education, or personal financial management services
  • One year of direct staff management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, financial management, or relevant field; equivalent combination of applicable education, training, certification, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Ability to obtain ASIST Certification within 1 year of hire
  • Up to 25% travel
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills
  • Ability to innovate, adapt, and lead through change in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of veteran and family needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Commitment to integrity, mission alignment, and compassionate, high-quality service
  • Preferred: Two years of experience working with military or veteran’s population
  • Preferred: Two years of experience with Salesforce
  • Preferred: Two years of experience using planning/scheduling software
  • Preferred: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) or pursuing accreditation
  • Preferred: Certified Financial Health Counselor (CFHC)
  • Preferred: ASIST Certification
