About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and deliver financial education curriculum, seminars, briefs, and presentations.
  • Manage a Financial Readiness case load and maintain detailed case records and documentation.
  • Coordinate with vendors and outside parties on financial education, debt management, and credit counseling.
  • Provide practical knowledge and guidance to help warriors make informed decisions and achieve financial resiliency.
  • Conduct ongoing education, support, and goal setting.
  • Provide individualized support to warriors, family support members, and partners.
  • Evaluate financial education services to ensure they meet warrior needs.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to program coordinators as needed.
  • Conduct non-clinical financial assessments, triage hardship circumstances, and determine alignment with emergency assistance guidelines.
  • Provide urgent support in high-crisis situations by connecting warriors and families with immediate assistance.
  • Record data in Salesforce, the WWP system of record.
  • Refer warriors and family members to WWP programs and community resources.
  • Attend required training and meetings, including orientation, WWP Cares, ASIST Suicide Prevention training, leadership training, team training, and departmental huddles.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Four years of experience in financial counseling, financial education, or personal financial management services.
  • Two years of experience working with military or veteran’s population.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, financial management or related field; equivalent combination of applicable education, training, certification, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Ability to obtain ASIST Certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Proficiency in personal financial management principles.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and understanding of the unique needs of military, veterans, and their family members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment in crisis situations and sensitive matters.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective public speaking skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with diverse teammates and external partners.
  • Proficiency in recognizing risks, identifying opportunities, and analyzing trends.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Commitment to high standards of personal and business ethics and conduct.
  • Two years of Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Two years of experience with an event/planning scheduling system preferred.
  • Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Health Counselor (CFHC), and ASIST Certification preferred.
