About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and implement a multi-year strategy to increase revenue from corporations, foundations, and the peer-to-peer sector
- Establish annual and long-range fundraising goals and performance metrics
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities, partnerships, sponsorships, and innovative revenue streams
- Increase acquisition, retention, renewal, and upgrade opportunities
- Monitor philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, and foundation-giving trends
- Collaborate with the Major Giving team on family foundation cultivation and stewardship
- Lead corporate partnership, peer-to-peer, and foundation fundraising activities
- Build and maintain relationships with corporate executives, foundation leaders, board members, and stakeholders
- Lead cultivation, solicitation, negotiation, and stewardship for high-value partnerships and grants
- Align funding opportunities with organizational programs and strategic priorities
- Serve as executive sponsor for selected high-profile relationships
- Lead, mentor, and develop a geographically dispersed fundraising team
- Evaluate organizational structure and staffing needs
- Manage budgets, forecasts, revenue projections, ROI analysis, performance reporting, and corrective actions
- Partner with programs, marketing, communications, finance, operations, data, and support teams
- Integrate institutional fundraising priorities into strategic initiatives
- Collaborate on campaign development, impact reporting, engagement experiences, and thought leadership
- Represent Wounded Warrior Project at conferences, corporate events, community engagements, and industry forums
- Drive accountability, creativity, and continuous improvement across fundraising operations
- Attend required training and meetings
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ten years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or sales associated with nonprofits
- Ten years of experience identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding corporate partners, foundations, sponsors, and other institutional funding relationships
- Eight years of staff management experience
- Experience managing significant fundraising budgets, revenue forecasts, performance metrics, and return-on-investment analysis
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid state-issued driver’s license
- Extensive knowledge of foundation and corporate giving
- Understanding of peer-to-peer fundraising
- Ability to close large corporate partners and transformational foundation gifts
- Strong business acumen and data analysis ability
- Demonstrated success leading, coaching, mentoring, and building teams
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Ability to travel and represent the organization
- Unequivocal commitment to high standards of personal and business ethics
- Advanced degree in business administration, nonprofit management, philanthropy, law, or related field preferred
- Executive-level fundraising leadership experience within a national nonprofit preferred
- Experience with military service organizations, veteran service organizations, or organizations serving military-connected communities preferred
