About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the Writer Design System (WDS) as the primary domain
  • Agentify and maintain WDS for humans and AI agents
  • Design and build production-quality UI components and features
  • Own product surfaces from sketch to ship
  • Ship design-led polish passes, micro-interactions, and brand moments
  • Architect new primitives and extend core system components
  • Keep documentation, examples, and libraries synchronized across Figma, .md skills, and Storybook
  • Uphold front-end craft standards for accessibility, motion feel, consistency, and quality
  • Shape the design-to-code workflow by researching tools and practices
  • Improve productivity and democratize workflows across the EPD organization
  • Partner with designers, PMs, and engineering leads to measure WDS adoption and close gaps
  • Ensure shipped features meet design system standards
  • Report to the Director of Product Design

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4–8+ years building production frontends with TypeScript and React
  • Track record of owning a system, platform, or surface end-to-end rather than individual features
  • Solid instincts for animation principles including easing curves, choreography, anticipation, follow-through, interruptibility, and perceived performance
  • Expert-level fluency in Figma, including auto-layout, variants, variables, and Code Connect
  • Proficiency with framer-motion, GSAP, and Lottie for web-based animation
  • Portfolio, side projects, GitHub, or production work demonstrating systems-level work
  • Experience driving adoption of a design system or shared platform across an engineering organization
  • Track record of influencing technical or design direction beyond the immediate team
  • Experience with AI product surfaces, including tool-call UIs, streaming responses, agent state, and dynamic UI rendering
  • Comfort navigating ambiguous, cross-team problems with good judgment about when to loop others in
  • Commitment to WRITER's values of Connect, Challenge, and Own
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country where the job is located
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
