About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Independently manage research proposal submissions and award review
  • Review budgets
  • Lead departmental staff and faculty system-wide
  • Negotiate revisions to contracts
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures related to research support
  • Ensure proposals and accepted awards comply with applicable regulations and WSU policies and procedures
  • Ensure University needs and priorities are met and minimize University risk
  • Draft and negotiate award agreements, contract agreements, and amendments issued to subrecipients under federal and non-federal grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts
  • Work as a member of the Grant and Contracts Team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to area of specialization; relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis
  • Three (3) years of Grants and Contract Administration experience
  • Experience processing, negotiating, and/or administering agreements with funding agencies, including federal government, businesses, non-profit associations, state governments, Indian Tribes, or private philanthropic foundations, or outgoing sub-award/sub-contract agreements
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to think critically and use good judgment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized non-U.S. citizen
  • Successful background check required
