About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide pre- and post-award research administration support
- Lead complex sponsored-project fiscal activities throughout the grant lifecycle
- Collaborate with faculty researchers, principal investigators, department administrators, central research administration offices, sponsors, subrecipients, and internal project teams
- Guide proposal materials through WSU pre-award systems
- Review funding announcements and ensure application materials are complete, accurate, and compliant
- Manage a multi-million-dollar portfolio of federal and non-federal awards
- Initiate subawards, no-cost extensions, renewals, continuations, amendments, supplemental funds, effort certification, payroll assignments/accounting, budget reporting, rebudgeting, carryforward, spend forecasting, and award closeout
- Reconcile contract language with award data in Workday
- Analyze account allocations, expense postings, encumbrances, balances, and revenue collection
- Present account-health narratives to principal investigators
- Recommend adjustments, initiate corrective actions, and contribute to account reconciliation
- Lead grants-management activities and process development and improvement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree including 18 quarters or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting and two years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent education/experience
- Knowledge of research operations, grants and contracts administration, budget/finance management, or related experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
- Knowledge of database administration tools, electronic proposal systems, or related software
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and sponsor regulations and guidelines for contract and grant administration
- Knowledge of grant and contract methods and procedures
- Not eligible for work visa sponsorship
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized non-U.S. citizen to work in the United States
- Background check required
