About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own steam and combustion turbine systems across the fleet
- Manage fleet-wide system planning, improvement, accountability for system performance, troubleshooting, and technical analysis
- Disassemble and reassemble turbine units
- Perform inspections and make repair recommendations
- Conduct technical analysis during major outages
- Apply engineering standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to complex assignments
- Support technical documentation including designs, testing, calculations, reports, and standards
- Develop and use engineering procedures
- Provide technical support for Operations, Maintenance, testing/diagnostics, and Regulatory activities
- Provide field engineering oversight or direction for commissioning, testing, and inspections
- Lead small-to-medium non-critical projects and coordinate critical projects or project phases
- Support bid and evaluation processes, including bid documents, technical proposal evaluations, and selection recommendations
- Coordinate with Supply Chain and Legal
- Exchange technical information with internal organizations and outside customers
- Assign and coordinate work for interns, drafters, technicians, craft personnel, and others
- Guide and mentor less experienced engineers
- Perform budgeting, estimating, forecasting, accounting, and work order management for engineering projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum
- Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
- 2+ years relevant engineering experience for Staff level
- 5+ years relevant engineering experience with EIT/FE required, or 7+ years without EIT/FE, for Senior level
- 9+ years relevant engineering experience with PE registration required, or 15+ years without PE, for Principal level
- Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies established for the engineering level
- EIT/FE strongly preferred at Staff level
- PE registration may be required depending on business need at Senior level
- Technical Field Advisor experience on steam or gas turbines preferred
- Experience working with steam turbines, combustion turbines, and rotating equipment such as pumps and motors preferred
- Prior power plant experience in operations, maintenance, or engineering roles preferred
- Proficiency in vibration analysis and equipment balancing preferred
- Experience and training on Siemens, GE, or other OEM equipment preferred
