About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide leadership and management for the power plant.
- Ensure personnel and plant safety through appropriate processes, procedures, training, accountabilities, and records.
- Ensure unit reliability to deliver production and ancillary services to customers.
- Manage customer interfaces effectively.
- Establish and manage O&M and capital budgets to optimize costs.
- Manage inventory and contracts to minimize overall costs.
- Develop and maintain a trained, qualified, and engaged workforce.
- Provide employee development, recognition, communication, and involvement opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with hiring, promotion, training, development, labor agreement, and AA/EEO requirements.
- Maximize the value and profitability of plant assets.
- Establish plans and processes for long-term plant improvement and investment.
- Ensure compliance with plant environmental permits and applicable regulations.
- Represent Xcel Energy with suppliers, contractors, industry/professional organizations, and the public.
- Support plant personnel involvement in community programs and activities.
- Link Corporate, Energy Supply, and plant objectives through the Management System and business plans.
- Establish action plans to achieve KPIs, initiatives, and other goals.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred or equivalent education and/or experience.
- Ten (10) year's experience in power generation or equivalent to include - five years leadership experience.
- Demonstrated leadership capability and proven
- Experience leading Solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) portfolios, including involvement across the full lifecycle: design, construction, contract negotiations, commissioning, operations, and maintenance.
- Other renewable generation experience is desirable, including operating and maintaining wind farms and wind turbine systems.
- Capable of safely climbing a 105‑meter wind turbine and completing escape and rescue training, as well as working at heights and in confined spaces.
