About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assemble, group, and prioritize work orders.
- Order materials and parts and assign long-term and near-term schedule dates for maintenance crews.
- Assign work order operations to work orders.
- Select and manage contractors.
- Assist in developing critical paths for overhauls and outages and track completion.
- Prepare monthly maintenance, operations, outage, equipment, backlog, re-work, and fuel reports.
- Develop cost estimates for outages and large projects and assist in developing the plant budget.
- Estimate labor requirements for equipment repairs and track actual time and costs.
- Track maintenance backlog and re-work.
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures and programs.
- Plan and oversee overhauls, outages, daily and weekly maintenance work, and large maintenance projects.
- Reallocate resources during outages to meet business needs.
- Own work processes, trending and tracking programs, administrative systems, and plant systems supporting engineering.
- Evaluate and select contractors and serve as plant coordinator and site contact.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Three to five years of power plant experience or equivalent experience in heavy industry.
- Formal relevant technical education and/or military/service/training may be substituted for years of experience on a one-for-one basis up to four years.
- Understanding of maintenance and operations practices and procedures.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Leadership and human relations experience.
- Ability to lead people and manage projects.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout Processes.
- Experience with budgeting and cost control preferred.
- SAP work order management system experience preferred.
- Utility business experience may be considered in lieu of power plant experience.
