About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop technical expertise in power distribution systems operations engineering
  • Apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to assignments of limited scope
  • Support technical documentation, including designs, testing, calculations, reports, and standards
  • Utilize and assist with developing procedures
  • Provide technical support for Operations, Maintenance, Testing/diagnostics, and Regulatory activities
  • Provide field engineering oversight for commissioning, testing, and inspections under supervision
  • Coordinate or lead project phases including research, design, equipment selection, procurement support, installation, and commissioning
  • Support bid and evaluation processes through basic analysis and calculations
  • Communicate with business areas, customers, and vendors
  • Coordinate interns, drafters, technicians, and others; mentor less experienced engineers
  • Perform budgeting, estimating, forecasting, accounting, and work order management in support of engineering projects
  • Continuously develop technical skills and competencies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Required bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum; electrical engineering degree preferred
  • Entry level: 0+ years relevant engineering experience
  • Staff level: 2+ years relevant engineering experience
  • Senior level: 5+ years relevant engineering experience with EIT/FE required, or 7+ years without EIT/FE
  • Principal level: 9+ years relevant engineering experience with PE registration required, or 15+ years without PE
  • Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies for the applicable engineering level
  • EIT/FE preferred at entry and staff levels
  • Preferred PE registration may be required depending on business need at senior level
  • Experience with automated field devices and control/settings, including Eaton CBC 8000, SEL 651R, S&C IR/Teams, and Switched Cabinets
  • Experience with distribution system planning study processes using CYME/Synergy
  • Familiarity with ADMS functionalities such as FLISR and IVVO and interactions with DERMS
  • Experience working with cross-functional and field teams
  • Familiarity with smart meter settings and distributed intelligent applications
  • Experience scripting with PowerApps platforms, SQL, and Python
  • Must adhere to cybersecurity policies, standards, and best practices
