About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Determine appropriate policy direction and develop recommendations for physical security regulatory compliance with Federal, State and local jurisdictions.
  • Consult with regulatory and subject matter experts to establish policies, procedures, and programs for mandatory regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and deliver supporting testimony in Federal, State and local regulatory proceedings and administrative rulemaking.
  • Coordinate physical security regulatory compliance activities in assigned jurisdictions.
  • Develop and coordinate physical security regulatory programs, policies, and procedures based on government mandates.
  • Coordinate regulatory filings and associated data requests for multiple jurisdictions concurrently.
  • Identify impacts of regulatory initiatives on company facilities from state-specific to national perspectives.
  • Conduct internal assessments, including training, spot checks, and reviews, to ensure compliance.
  • Facilitate projects to address identified compliance gaps.
  • Interact with regulators, stakeholders, and internal customers to pursue results aligned with company policies and physical security mandates.
  • Advocate company positions with regulators and stakeholders in regulatory proceedings, rulemaking, hearings, councils, and industry organizations.
  • Monitor regulatory rulemaking activities and provide written and oral comments and testimony.
  • Perform field inventory of physical security technology and assets.
  • Assist in physical security investigations.
  • Liaise with internal regulatory departments.
  • Manage audits with internal departments and provide findings to Enterprise Security management.
  • Maintain physical security control documentation and track physical security projects at assets.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completion of a four year academic degree, preferably in Security Management, Criminal Justice or Business Administration or a combination of other relevant security education.
  • Minimum of 10 years of industrial security experience in a corporate environment, with extensive knowledge of the electric, gas, and/or hydroelectric energy sectors.
  • Equivalent experience in utility operations and physical security regulatory compliance will also be considered.
  • 8 years regulatory project management and experience developing and managing security requirements to meet Federal, State and Local government mandates.
  • Professional certification - CPP (Certified Protection Professional) preferred.
  • Must be able to qualify for and obtain a Federal Government security clearance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to meet situational demands.
  • Frequent travel and must be able to travel with little advanced warning.
  • This position is subject to 24-hour on call status and response.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to personally conduct site inspections at a variety of facilities, including climbing ladders, lifting floor tiles, getting down on hands and knees, and walking on uneven surfaces or terrain.
