About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a staff advisor and consultant in a technical specialty, facility/equipment type, or program function
- Lead projects of moderate to large size, scope, and complexity
- Develop new or improved techniques, procedures, standards, equipment, materials, processes, products, and scientific methods
- Support technical documentation, including designs, testing, calculations, reports, and standards
- Provide field engineering oversight and direction for operations, maintenance, testing/diagnostics, regulatory activities, support, installation, inspections, and commissioning
- Coordinate or lead project phases including research, design, equipment selection, procurement, installation, and commissioning
- Act as the prime technical contact in bid and evaluation processes
- Prepare bid documents, complete technical evaluations, and recommend proposal selections
- Resolve difficult technical and business matters with internal organizations, customers, and vendors
- Assign tasks to and direct engineers, technicians, craft personnel, and support staff
- Guide and mentor less experienced engineers
- Lead budgeting, estimating, forecasting, accounting, and work order management for engineering projects
- Represent the organization on contracts and projects and coordinate with senior external personnel
Requirements
What you’ll need- Required bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum
- Mechanical engineering degree preferred
- Entry: 0+ years relevant engineering experience
- Staff: 2+ years relevant engineering experience
- Senior: 5+ years relevant engineering experience with EIT/FE required, or 7+ years without EIT/FE
- Principal: 9+ years relevant engineering experience with PE registration required, or 15+ years without PE
- Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies established and documented for the engineering level
- EIT/FE preferred for Entry and strongly preferred for Staff
- PE registration may be required depending on business need for Senior
- PE registration required for Principal when using the 9+ years experience path
- Ability to work onsite three days per week may apply depending on role, team, and business needs
