About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Advise and consult on renewable plant substations, collection systems, protective relaying, and high- and medium-voltage equipment reliability
- Develop and improve techniques and procedures related to asset health, equipment performance, maintenance strategies, troubleshooting, and reliability improvement
- Serve as prime technical contact for substation reliability projects, equipment failures, root cause investigations, and major capital projects
- Support technical documentation, designs, testing, calculations, reports, standards, and procedures
- Provide technical support for Operations, Maintenance, Testing/diagnostics, Regulatory, commissioning, inspections, and related project activities
- Coordinate or lead project phases including research, design, equipment selection, procurement support, installation, and commissioning
- Support bid and proposal evaluation through analysis and calculations
- Communicate with internal business areas and external customers/vendors
- Coordinate interns, drafters, technicians, and other staff; mentor less experienced engineers
- Support budgeting, estimating, forecasting, accounting, and work order management for engineering projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Required bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET accredited curriculum
- Preferred Electrical Engineering degree
- Relevant engineering experience requirements vary by level: 0+ years entry, 2+ years staff, 5+ years with EIT/FE or 7+ years without EIT/FE senior, 9+ years with PE registration or 15+ years without PE principal
- Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies for the applicable engineering level
- EIT/FE preferred for entry and strongly preferred for staff; required for senior with 5+ years experience
- PE registration may be required depending on business need for senior; required for principal with 9+ years experience
- Knowledge of renewable substation engineering, electrical balance-of-plant equipment, renewable plant substations, collection systems, protective relaying, and high and medium voltage equipment reliability
