About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain and evolve one of the largest search clusters in the Southern Hemisphere
- Work on infrastructure supporting 200,000+ daily active users, 50+ million searchable documents, and 400TB of data at 99.9% uptime
- Contribute to the four-year Horizon 2 search platform modernisation project
- Help maintain and evolve search infrastructure at massive scale
- Integrate ingestion pipelines with the new Operational Data Layer platform
- Explore partnerships and integrations with Mobile, Files, and AI-adjacent search capabilities
- Perform search-specific and generalist engineering tasks
- Collaborate with experienced engineers through code reviews
- Work with the Product Manager, Principal Architect, and broader Catalyst Platform team
- Gradually take on larger responsibilities as expertise develops
Requirements
What you’ll need- Search engineering experience, including building or maintaining search systems
- Solid software engineering fundamentals
- Ability to write clean, maintainable code
- Eagerness to learn and deepen search engineering expertise
- Ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and infrastructure teams in a distributed environment
- Initiative and ownership when taking on tasks
- Current working rights for the country where the role is based, or ability to obtain appropriate visa assistance
