About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead technical evaluation of complex parts, assemblies, and projects
  • Establish standards for assessing complexity across the sourcing team
  • Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation for manufacturing risks, tolerances, materials, and process requirements
  • Guide selection of manufacturing processes, capabilities, and providers
  • Define, maintain, and audit the technical tagging framework
  • Serve as final technical reviewer for complex or high-value quotations
  • Identify and resolve technical gaps, risks, and ambiguities
  • Provide manufacturing expertise for critical deals, escalations, and strategic customer projects
  • Lead technical meetings with clients and manufacturing providers
  • Clarify requirements, propose DFM alternatives, and resolve technical challenges
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Sourcing Engineers
  • Support onboarding and training
  • Prioritize and distribute team workload during peak periods
  • Maintain a knowledge base of best practices and technical guidelines
  • Collaborate with engineering, sourcing, sales, quality, and operations teams
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives for sourcing and quotation workflows
  • Contribute to tools, automation, and data used in technical assessment
  • Track and report team metrics such as quote accuracy, turnaround time, and tagging quality

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Higher technical education in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years in a manufacturing environment working with complex parts or assemblies
  • Experience in sourcing engineering, technical procurement, or supplier engineering
  • Strong command of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, sheet metal, injection molding, casting, 3D printing, and finishing
  • Knowledge of GD&T, technical drawings, materials, and quality requirements
  • Proven experience working with suppliers, manufacturers, and cross-functional sourcing and engineering teams
  • Ability to guide, motivate, and develop technical colleagues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • English proficiency at B2 level or higher
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Calm under pressure, flexible with changing priorities, and attentive to detail
