About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive regional sales growth and profitability by expanding capital sales of Xylem dewatering products and services within the assigned territory
- Prospect and develop new business opportunities through strategic outreach, cold calling, networking, referrals, bid activity, and market research
- Maintain a healthy sales pipeline in Salesforce.com
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships by understanding customer needs and delivering responsive service
- Identify opportunities to increase account penetration and long-term value
- Apply product and application knowledge to recommend practical dewatering equipment, service, and solution offerings
- Uncover new applications for Xylem products
- Deliver sales presentations, proposals, and quotations
- Lead contract, pricing, and bid negotiations and customer training
- Collaborate with marketing, operations, and other sales teams on lead generation, bid activity, customer satisfaction, and cross-business selling
- Maintain current industry, product, and market knowledge through market intelligence, competitive offerings, contractor and bid resources, training, and professional development
- Maintain accurate customer and opportunity records
- Prepare forecasts, activity reports, expense reports, and other territory or performance reports
- Represent Xylem at sales meetings, training programs, trade shows, industry events, and community activities
- Assist with field training when requested
- Participate in company-sponsored programs, including Xylem Watermark volunteer activities
- Work in an office, customer job sites, and shop environments
- Travel up to 50%
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2+ years’ sales or sales related experience (pump or rental industry preferred)
- Thorough knowledge of consultative/value-based selling
- Knowledge of mechanical and pumping designs; hydraulic, pneumatics, water flow, diesel, gas, and electric motors in related field of pumps, pumping systems, equipment rental or construction preferred
- Previous experience in the use of Salesforce.com or other CRM’s is required
- Ability to present product education seminars to groups of 20-40 people
- Effective interpersonal skills with customers, employees, and management team
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Strong teamwork and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to demonstrate effective negotiation and influencing skills along with knowledge of selling practices and techniques
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and the use of computer applications
- Ability to meet and continuously maintain authorization to operate a company vehicle
- Ability to safely and effectively operate a company vehicle for extended periods of time throughout cities, job sites, major highways and interstates, including tunnels and bridges, and in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
