About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop new business opportunities, target markets, and application areas for micro-optical components and systems
  • Build and maintain long-term customer relationships and develop strategic partnerships in industrial and scientific environments
  • Present ZEISS Microoptics’ product and technology portfolio at trade shows, workshops, conferences, and customer meetings
  • Analyze market, technology, and competitive developments and derive business, technology, and product roadmaps
  • Manage complex customer inquiries from the initial idea through the proposal phase to contract conclusion
  • Lead project acquisition activities and prepare for and conduct contract and price negotiations
  • Prepare and evaluate technical proposals, including commercial calculations, in collaboration with the relevant departments
  • Contribute to the development of sales and marketing strategies and the market positioning of new technologies and solutions
  • Serve as the central interface between customers, development, and production
  • Actively shape future business development in the Industrial Solutions & Research business area of the ZEISS Microoptics Business Unit

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree in engineering, business, economics, or a comparable qualification with a relevant technical background
  • Several years of professional experience in business development, technical sales, or product management in a technology-driven environment
  • Demonstrated success in developing new business areas, markets, or customer relationships
  • Strong strategic and entrepreneurial thinking, with the ability to translate technological trends into business opportunities
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to different audiences, from development departments to procurement and management levels
  • Experience preparing proposals, negotiating contracts, and performing commercial calculations
  • Knowledge of microoptics, diffractive optics, photonics, or high-power lasers is an advantage
  • Independent, structured, and results-oriented working style combined with a high degree of initiative and a hands-on mentality
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in German and English
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally
