About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead engineering on critical customer projects, owning scope, sequencing, and delivery timelines
  • Ship high-impact features supporting strategic deals and renewals
  • Build net-new product capabilities, APIs, exports, notifications, and targeted enhancements
  • Partner with core product teams on product scope and prioritization
  • Shape Zip’s long-term platform and roadmap through customer-driven product development
  • Communicate directly with procurement, finance, and IT customers
  • Diagnose customer problems live against real deadlines
  • Translate trade-offs between engineering and executive audiences
  • Write and ship production code
  • Work alongside Field Product Managers and Solutions Consultants

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong software engineering skills
  • Experience shipping non-trivial production systems
  • Ability to read and write code across the stack, including Python on the backend and React/TypeScript on the frontend
  • Product instincts and judgment
  • Customer empathy and crisp communication
  • Ability to move on customer-driven timelines while maintaining a high quality bar
  • High ownership and ability to diagnose, build, and ship with minimal supervision
  • Prior product engineering or full-stack engineering experience is helpful, not required
  • Prior founder or early-employee experience is helpful, not required
  • Experience with procurement, finance, ERP, or AP automation systems is helpful, not required
  • Legal authorization to work in the country where the role is located
  • Willingness/ability to address current or future work sponsorship requirements
