About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support management of on-site industrial controls systems, including BMS, PMS, EMS, PCS, and RLAN IT/OT architecture
  • Gatekeep standards for new system architecture design
  • Support installation of building automation, data, process control, DCS, and utility PLC systems
  • Maintain the site-wide Automation master plan
  • Manage the lifecycle and change-control process for site automation control systems
  • Troubleshoot instruments and control systems with maintenance teams
  • Develop training programs for instrumentation and control systems
  • Manage vendors and consultants and ensure technical specifications and delivery requirements are met
  • Monitor developments in instrumentation and control technology and standards
  • Interface with users, peers, and management to integrate local and corporate standards
  • Provide technical expertise during regulatory audits
  • Author, review, revise, or approve SOPs
  • Support automation infrastructure implementation from conception through completion
  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, chemical engineering, automation engineering, or a related field is required
  • 6 years managing automation systems experience in automation engineering, particularly in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors is required
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems within a GMP environment
  • Proficiency in PLC programming, SCADA systems, DCS, and other automation technologies
  • Knowledge of ISA-88, ISA-95, and GAMP
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations, cGMP, and other pharmaceutical industry guidelines
  • Experience leading and managing automation projects from concept through commissioning
  • Understanding of IQ, OQ, and PQ validation processes
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex automation issues and implement effective solutions
  • Basic understanding of IT/OT digital concepts and integration of EMS, DCS, PCS, and BMS
  • Life-cycle management of automation systems
  • Project management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience implementing, testing, and qualifying automation for large-scale projects
  • Proficiency in English, written and oral
  • Computer proficiency with email, internet/online training, Microsoft Word and Excel, and manufacturing software programs
  • Ability to work scheduled 40 hours and overtime as needed
  • Ability to sit, walk, or stand for long periods; perform repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions; reach above shoulder level; bend/stoop; kneel; push/pull; and handle/grip frequently
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Must possess or obtain authorization to work in the US; sponsorship may be pursued at Zoetis’s discretion
