About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Create and manage requirements, interface definitions, and architecture definition documentation for optical subsystems of a future trapped-ion quantum computer
- Manage traceability of subsystem artifacts to system-level requirements and architecture documentation
- Trade design options with subsystem technical teams and external suppliers/partners
- Plan and participate in subsystem integration and verification, including testing
- Organize and conduct subsystem design reviews
- Deliver subsystem contributions to system-level design reviews
- Help develop and implement company systems engineering standards and practices
- Collaborate with subsystem technical teams, external suppliers/partners, system-level architects, systems engineers, and cross-discipline SMEs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 6+ years of professional experience in a combination of systems engineering roles and design, integration, or testing roles involving optical, laser, and/or photonics technologies; 4 years with a master’s degree or 3 years with a PhD
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a systems engineering role
- Must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless also a U.S. citizen
- Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status
- Pre-employment drug test required for safety-sensitive placement
- Experience in systems engineering or architecture of highly complex, large-scale technologies
- Expertise in one or more optical, laser, photonics, or optomechanical technology areas
- Experience with formal documentation and management of requirements, interfaces, verification plans, and other systems engineering artifacts in database and/or product lifecycle management tools
- Prior experience with laser-cooled, neutral atom, or atomic ion scientific apparatus or quantum computers
