About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Optimize and control product costs to ensure projects meet their profitability targets
Collaborate with engineering, program management, and procurement teams to define and achieve material and tooling cost targets
Maintain end-to-end control of the total cost of ownership for parts, systems, and suppliers within a specific vehicle domain
Define product cost targets based on expertise in components and tooling
Work with procurement to analyze supplier quotations and identify variances
Develop cost reference databases for future projects
Conduct make-or-buy analyses and assess project profitability
Collaborate with engineering on Design-to-Cost activities
Develop in-house expertise in manufacturing processes and cost drivers
Support the development and implementation of cost management processes to ensure targets are achieved

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 2 years of experience in cost engineering, procurement, or a similar role in manufacturing or product development
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related technical field
Experience with cost estimation methodologies, such as should-cost analysis, variance analysis, and benchmarking
Experience with project development processes
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and technologies
Experience in cost control or cost engineering is a plus
Proficiency with cost-estimation software, such as LeanCOST, Siemens PCM, and Costdata
Basic knowledge of CAD tools is a plus
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
