About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Execute technical service activities with low to medium complexity on DCS and PLC systems across hydro power plants and industrial facilities in the APAC region
Plan, prepare, and execute field service work according to customer orders, work instructions, ABB processes, and quality standards
Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental guidelines
Perform on-site and remote diagnostics, troubleshoot equipment and process failures, and provide root-cause analysis
Communicate service timelines, manage customer expectations, ensure on-time completion, and deliver first-time-right service
Prepare material lists and verify parts and equipment availability and quality
Maintain organized service documentation and technical reports for customer sign-off
Collaborate with on-site customers to identify operational pain points, improvement opportunities, and system enhancements
Notify account teams of potential commercial follow-up opportunities
Service multiple DCS configurations using relevant diagnostic and service tools
Maintain current technical certification and knowledge
Identify service delivery improvements, request corrective actions from engineering teams, and implement efficiency recommendations

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent qualification
Minimum 5 years of hands-on field service experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning of PLC/DCS systems
Expertise servicing multiple DCS system types
Strong technical understanding of hydro power generation processes
Experience in power plants or industrial facilities, including Oil & Gas, hydro power, or similar sectors
Proficiency with ABB PLC or DCS systems
Hands-on troubleshooting experience with field instruments, control systems, and electrical automation concepts
Fluent spoken and written English
Excellent customer communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
Ability to meet tight deadlines and maintain high quality standards
Problem-solving capability and ability to work independently in field environments
Ability to coordinate with distributed teams and propose practical technical solutions
Willingness to travel frequently within the APAC region: Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand
