About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Independently manage concurrent certification projects, ensuring compliance with applicable safety requirements and meeting time and cost deadlines
- Evaluate products against national and international standards and precedent decisions
- Review the work of others and demonstrate technical competency in certification programs
- Evaluate complex, unique, or unusual product types
- Maintain on-time, on-budget performance and productivity expectations across multiple projects
- Review test data and reports and authorize application of Certification Marks
- Prepare and/or sign Certification Reports and Certificates of Compliance
- Conduct construction evaluations and identify rationale for compliance or non-compliance
- Collaborate with Lab Technicians to create work orders specifying required tests, test order, and sample quantities
- Perform safety certification of medical devices and other new and leading-edge products, systems, and technologies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with likely 6 or more years of job related experience; or Degree / Diploma in Engineering Technology or related technical field with 8 or more years’ experience
- Thorough knowledge of Standards and testing procedures
- Knowledge of CSA, UL and IEC Standards - 61010 and 60601
- Thorough knowledge of CSA certification options, programs and services applicable to a variety of equipment
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills; customer service skills
- Strong organizational, time and project management skills
- Ability to work unsupervised in a team-based work environment
- Ability to read, interpret and develop engineering drawings
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office)
- Experience using various lab equipment, instruments and tools
- Ability to work well under a tight schedule in a team environment
- Ability to work across institutional, cultural and geographic boundaries
