Key responsibilities & impact- Build and ship product capabilities across backend services, APIs, and modern web interfaces
- Own moderate-to-large projects end-to-end, including scoping, technical design, implementation, rollout, and iteration
- Implement clear, maintainable, performant user-facing experiences aligned with product requirements and design direction
- Partner with Product, Design, and adjacent engineering teams on cross-functional initiatives
- Identify and resolve technical risks, blockers, and mis-scoped work
- Communicate technical topics, tradeoffs, delivery risks, and implementation choices to technical and non-technical audiences
- Contribute to architecture and design discussions
- Write high-quality code, tests, and technical documentation
- Provide code reviews that improve team output
- Support and mentor less experienced engineers
- Improve engineering quality, team execution, and product experience through ownership and continuous improvement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong professional experience building and operating production software across backend and frontend layers
- Experience developing backend services using Go, Rust, Python, Java, TypeScript, or similar
- Experience building frontend applications with Angular, React, or similar modern frameworks
- Experience working with SQL-based relational databases in production
- Experience building backend services on AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Familiarity with Docker and containerized applications
- Experience designing and operating APIs, services, and asynchronous or event-driven systems
- Knowledge of data modeling and persistence layers
- Knowledge of cloud-native application development and deployment patterns
- Knowledge of observability, reliability, and operational best practices
- Ability to independently drive substantial work from problem definition through delivery
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience mentoring engineers through code reviews, design collaboration, and technical guidance
- Product-minded approach and ability to balance competing priorities
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Preferred: PostgreSQL and performance tuning, Neo4j or graph databases, GraphQL, ETL pipelines, observability stacks, and cybersecurity or vulnerability-management experience
