About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare patients for exams and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms, measurements, chief complaints, and pain scores
- Report patient conditions that may indicate changes to clinicians
- Assist providers with examinations and minor in-office procedures, including phlebotomy, ear irrigation, and EKGs
- Act as a chaperone as needed
- Prioritize patient flow through the clinical process
- Coordinate patient care, including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, scheduling, and communicating test results
- Maintain complete and accurate medical records and billing information
- Provide clerical support for patient notifications and documentation
- Clean and disinfect equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs
- Order supplies and stock patient care areas
- Complete medication ordering and medication-related tasks
- Complete required onboarding, orientation, and simulation training
- Work under direct supervision of providers and interact with staff, physicians, patients, families, and external healthcare contacts
- Provide patient-centered care and administrative support in a neurology clinic
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
- Completion of a Banner approved medical assistant training program that meets state defined regulations
- Active Medical Assistant Certification required: RMA from AMT, CMA from AAMA, CCMA from NHA, or NCMA from NCCT
- BLS certification required upon hire
- Strong computer skills, including ability to work with medical software
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple changing priorities effectively and in an organized fashion
- Experience with office medical procedures and treatments preferred
- Knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR, and scheduling software preferred
- Flexibility to travel between clinic locations is required
- Candidates may be required to provide coverage at satellite clinic locations as needed
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and Arizona Criminal History Affidavit required only for specified behavioral health settings
- At least 2 years of previous Medical Assistant experience preferred
- Specialty clinic experience helpful but not required
- Experience with medication preparation, prior authorizations, prescription management, and medication-related workflows highly beneficial
