About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct pre-donation medical screening according to established guidelines
- Determine hematocrit and protein using finger stick, hematastat, and refractometer
- Promote customer satisfaction through appropriate donor interaction and responsiveness
- Assess donor suitability and perform plasmapheresis machine and donor setup, monitoring, and disconnection procedures
- Provide feedback to ineligible donor candidates
- Ensure donor screening information is complete and accurate
- Maintain donor confidentiality
- Communicate donor medical information to Medical Staff
- Establish and maintain organized donor files
- Maintain accurate documentation and records
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area and necessary supplies
- Dispose of contaminated disposable equipment
- Build donor rapport to support long-term donation
- Perform administrative duties including greeting donors, answering phones, and assisting center management
- Comply with state and federal regulations, FDA-approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal procedures
- Sanitize and clean equipment and work areas between donors
- Cross-train and work in other areas to ensure efficient center operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or GED
- Obtains required state licensures or certifications where applicable
- Typically requires 2 years of related experience
- Ability to comprehend and follow instructions to complete assigned tasks
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to perform within the guidance of oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform precise coordinated finger, hand, and wrist movements
- Ability to lift 15 lbs. routinely and up to 50 lbs. maximum
- Hearing acuity essential
- Correctable near vision and far vision requirements
- Color perception/discrimination
- Ability to work while exposed to biological fluids, infectious organisms, laboratory equipment, and temperatures below 32°F
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment
- Ability to work sitting or standing for an entire shift, with bending and twisting
- Ability to perform occasional squatting, crouching, or sitting on heels
- Ability to reach below shoulder height
