Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, document, test, and debug application software and systems containing logical and mathematical solutions
- Support multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers or hardware engineers in planning, designing, developing, and utilizing electronic data processing systems
- Assist in determining computer user needs and analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems involving program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls
- Prepare operating instructions and assist in developing utility programs and system components
- Ensure software standards are met under supervision
- Design, develop, integrate, and sustain applications supporting the Navy Continuous Training Environment and Navy Training Baseline
- Contribute software engineering activities enabling Fleet LVC training, Joint LVC training, and Unit-Level Training
Requirements
What you’ll need- 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience
- U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
- Knowledge of C++, Java, JavaScript, Rust, SQL, and Shell scripting
- Knowledge of VueJS/ExtJS and JMS/ActiveMQ frameworks
- Experience with git, gradle/make, JUnit, and GTest
- Knowledge of secure coding practices (OWASP), TLS/SSL, and STIG compliance
- Strong communication skills—both technical and non-technical
- Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements Software Engineer family
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Preferred: Security+ or Linux certification
- Interest in distributed simulation technologies and continuous learning
