Key responsibilities & impact- Extract usable information from customer, account, and transactional data sets
- Participate in data set creation, analysis, reporting, model building, model monitoring, and model documentation
- Identify patterns and risk indicators within account and transaction datasets
- Identify opportunities for new strategies and recommend improvements to existing strategies
- Lead innovative, potentially patentable AML projects
- Design samples and build statistical models using logistic regression, clustering, gradient boosting, neural networks, and other machine learning algorithms
- Communicate analytical results and represent the modeling team in forums for senior executives and team partners
- Collaborate with first, second, and third lines of defense and other key stakeholders
- Perform analytical tasks on structured and unstructured data to extract actionable business insights
- Develop algorithms using advanced mathematical and statistical techniques to predict business outcomes and recommend optimal actions
- Run analytical experiments to find product and process optimization opportunities
- Present business insights to management using visualization technologies and data storytelling
- Partner with Data Architects, Data Analysts, Data Engineers, and Visualization Experts on data-driven solutions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's degree or higher in a quantitative field
- 3+ years of relevant/direct industry experience
- Experience with data mining and data preparation for ML models
- Proficiency in statistical methods and tools, including experimental design, probability theory, and sampling
- Expertise in building, scaling, and optimizing machine learning systems with industry-recognized ML frameworks and algorithms
- Strong programming skills in Python, PySpark, R, and/or SQL
- Experience working with model risk governing bodies in model validation and with model implementation partners in productionizing a model
- Experience in banking/financial services preferred
- Experience with anti-fraud and/or anti-money laundering modeling preferred
- Hands-on experience building AI/ML models, including neural networks, preferred
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure preferred
- No sponsorship for employment visas or participation in STEM OPT
- Comparable combination of education, job-specific certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
