About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review electronic medical records and conduct quality control on each record
- Ensure records comply with HIPAA guidelines
- Communicate questions and issues to the Lead/Supervisor
- Mentor new employees
- Maintain privacy of patient, employee, and volunteer information on a need-to-know basis
- Comply with corporate integrity and security obligations
- Report unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful behavior or activity
- Understand and follow information governance policies, procedures, and processes
- Discuss process questions and recommendations to support standardized work
- Participate in required corporate compliance and role-specific education
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 6 months previous experience in a medical record setting
- Required to pass an industry related course and exam within six months of hire
- Maintain current and yearly HIPAA certification
- Ability to check electronic records for HIPAA compliance and compliance with request and authorization limits
- Ability to determine whether medical records may legally be released under HIPAA rules and regulations
- Adhere to state and Federal Laws for Release of Information (ROI)
- High attention to detail
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment
- Ability to work well within a team environment
- High reliability and productivity
- Computer literacy, including MS Outlook and other Windows-based programs
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods
- Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. of materials
- Manual dexterity and strength for keyboarding, writing, and handling paperwork
- Sufficient eyesight to read documents and computer monitors
- Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively
