About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform corrective and emergency maintenance on food packaging, processing, and facility equipment
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and assigned work orders to increase asset life
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports documenting maintenance activities and repairs
- Maintain maintenance office and departmental records
- Troubleshoot and resolve advanced mechanical and electrical equipment issues
- Repair and rebuild pumps, mills, gearboxes, and other mechanical equipment
- Assist or direct maintenance mechanics in troubleshooting advanced equipment problems
- Train maintenance mechanics and document training activities
- Manage Clean In Place (CIP) processes and ensure documentation is accurate and complete
- Follow food safety policies, SQF code, GMPs, FSMA, and associated preventive controls
- Travel may be required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
- 5-10 years of experience in advanced mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills and/or specialized training
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred
- Knowledgeable use of hand/power tools and shop equipment
- Ability to use multi-meters, tape measures, calipers, and dial indicators
- Proficiency in computer use and Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
- Ability to troubleshoot complex packaging, processing, and facility equipment
- Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions
- Ability to work with CAD drawings, schematics, or basic hand-drawn diagrams
- Understanding and history of following GMP and related food manufacturing policies
- Ability to meet physical demands including standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting/moving up to 50 pounds or more with assistance
- Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment
- Willingness and ability to work 8-12 hour shifts, additional unscheduled hours, and weekends as required
- Willingness to work in adverse temperatures, around vibrations, chemicals, fumes, food allergens, confined/dark spaces, and heights exceeding 18 feet
