About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve moderate to highly complex casualty claims from initial loss through final disposition
- Handle Construction Defect claims
- Handle General Liability claims involving bodily injury and property damage
- Handle Commercial Transportation and Trucking claims
- Handle Commercial and Personal Auto Bodily Injury claims
- Manage high-exposure and litigated casualty losses
- Evaluate coverage, liability, damages, and claim exposure while ensuring compliance with policy provisions, legal requirements, and department standards
- Conduct thorough investigations and analyze evidence to support claim decisions
- Establish and maintain appropriate claim reserves
- Negotiate settlements and resolve complex claims efficiently and effectively
- Manage litigated files and partner with defense counsel on claim strategy
- Prepare reservation of rights, coverage position, and denial letters
- Review contracts, indemnification agreements, and risk transfer provisions
- Collaborate with insureds, claimants, attorneys, expert vendors, law enforcement, and other stakeholders
- Analyze accident reports, driver records, electronic logging data, medical records, and other claim documentation
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor to team members by providing guidance, coaching, and training
- Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining quality, audit, and compliance standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- Significant experience handling casualty claims, including complex bodily injury exposures
- Prior commercial trucking and transportation claims experience preferred
- Experience managing litigated files and working directly with attorneys
- Strong coverage analysis, liability evaluation, and investigative skills
- Advanced knowledge of policy interpretation, contracts, risk transfer, and indemnification agreements
- Sound negotiation, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple complex claims while maintaining strong customer relationships
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Insurance designations or coursework such as CPCU, AIC, AINS, ARM, SCLA, or similar professional education are a plus
