About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and lead a team of subject matter experts developing electrical hardware equipment for Lunar Landers
- Serve as a lead technical contributor and provide technical support to the product team
- Develop, lead, and own upgraded analog and digital avionics designs controlling fluids, engine systems, and onboard lunar hardware
- Own hardware and firmware/microprocessor architecture across the product life cycle
- Support concept development, requirements definition, design, analysis, prototyping, schematic capture, layout, design reviews, testing, verification, and production release
- Lead architecture trade studies, analyses, performance characterization, specification, device selection, and product roadmap direction
- Lead design risk analyses, FMECA, DFx, and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies
- Participate in technology development, mission assurance, safety initiatives, and avionics process improvements
- Communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management
- Develop strategic plans, mentor team members, and provide leadership and development opportunities
- Manage hiring, performance reviews, compensation and promotion management, professional development, and one-on-one development conversations
- Organize and equip the team, ensure staff training, and coach Blue Origin leadership principles and team culture
- Supply people, processes, and tools to meet project and program demands; negotiate Statements of Work with product managers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines
- Experience leading multidisciplinary development projects, people, or functional groups with responsibility for coaching others
- 6+ years of experience in at least one specialty area applicable to space flight
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
- Understanding of hardware engineering principles, concepts, and methods
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment while providing imaginative and detailed technical solutions to complex problems
- U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. permanent residency, or lawful admission to the U.S. as a refugee or asylee
- Blue’s Standard Background Check required
- Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines (preferred)
- Prior responsibility for career management of employees (preferred)
