Key responsibilities & impact- Assist in the safe and efficient operation of the power plant and supporting equipment and systems
- Carry out routine water and gas chemistry analysis
- Inspect and monitor operating components and report plant status
- Support facility maintenance, including mechanical work and electrical repairs
- Operate and maintain a wide variety of power plant equipment
- Maintain the chemical-pumping system and ensure optimal chemistry control and equipment reliability
- Perform or assist with preventive maintenance, planned maintenance, and routine equipment repairs
- Withdraw parts and supplies from inventory and complete usage reports
- Work on and repair rotating equipment, chemical systems, and water-processing equipment
- Perform chemical handling and off-loading
- Perform emergency operations and maintenance to maintain production and safeguard equipment
- Support changes in plant conditions and chemistry under team direction
- Support the Maintenance team with lock-out/tag-out, equipment identification, troubleshooting, work request preparation, and related tasks
- Participate in safety and regulatory compliance programs
- Capture, implement, and support improvement initiatives
- Coach and mentor facility employees on safety behaviors and management-system expectations
- Communicate incidents and near misses to plant leadership and Health & Safety support
- Report to the Operations Manager and obtain direct guidance from the Control Room Operator
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment, as would be acquired in four (4) years of high school
- Associate degree in a technical field desirable
- Experience in a Power Plant environment desired, preferably as a Power Plant Technician, or equivalent position
- Experience working with high-pressure turbines and combustion turbines
- Familiarity with associated equipment
- Experience in water chemistry control, condition analysis, water treatment facility operations, and chemical-handling requirements desired
- Strong aptitude in math and mechanical/electrical ability desired
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of combustion-turbine operations, industrial safety, hazardous waste management, and inspection/recording of Plant parameters highly desirable
- Experience with piping and instrument schematics and process controls desirable
- Mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical equipment knowledge desired
- Experience with SQL databases or Python for data analysis
- Knowledge of thermal or renewable power generation cycles
- Experience troubleshooting industrial communication protocols (OPC, Modbus)
- Ability to stand for extended periods, climb stairs and ladders, and routinely lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work extended hours, varied shifts, weekends, and holidays as required
- Periodic on-call availability
