About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct virtual and on-site investigations at policyholders’ residences
- Assess property damage, determine liability, evaluate the extent of loss, and negotiate fair settlements
- Use claims handling software, a company car, and laptop to determine damage and write estimates in a paperless environment
- Evaluate and report potential subrogation opportunities
- Report theft, fraud, or arson incidents to appropriate state and industry agencies
- Work independently with duties directly impacting management outcomes
- Represent the company professionally in public interactions
- Engage with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, law enforcement, investigators, attorneys, medical professionals, and other stakeholders
- Negotiate with policyholders to settle claims
- Promote safety and comply with company safety and ergonomic standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Excellent customer service experience, preferably in a retail environment
- Construction or Insurance experience is highly desirable and preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Computer literacy: MS Word, Excel, Outlook
- Proficiency with smartphones and applications
- Eagerness to learn insurance policies and property damage
- Valid driver's license and bondable
- Final candidates subject to a Motor Vehicle Record background check
- Must reside in the greater Canton, OH area / assigned territory
- Willing and able to climb ladders and work on rooftops multiple times per day
- Comfortable working in small, confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces
- Achieve a minimum passing score on all claims training exams
- Ability to carry up to 50 lbs.
- English speaking, reading, and writing ability
- Ability to work in field and in-home office environments
- Willingness to commit to 1–3 CAT deployments per year
- Catastrophe-team employees may be required to travel away from residence, usually for 23 days
