About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and manage complex engineering projects from initiation to completion
- Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables with stakeholders
- Develop and implement project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
- Manage project execution, escalations, and performance
- Develop and manage project schedules and milestones
- Develop and manage risks and opportunities
- Drive clear communication between technical leaders
- Optimize the team through procedural improvements and automations
- Drive software quotation estimate efforts and approvals
- Facilitate teams toward solutions and agreement
- Drive and improve project engineering practices for Software groups
- Lead a software team assessing and driving program-specific performance across multiple parallel projects
- Coordinate program cost, schedule, and technical issues and escalations
- Lead prioritization of work packages, design goals, and objectives
- Work with teams developing low-level embedded software and bringing electronics hardware up
- Report directly to the Engineering Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Science or Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- 2 years experience in project engineering functions
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex engineering projects on time and within budget
- Solid leadership and project management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must conform to U.S. Government technology export regulations, including ITAR
- Must be a U.S. person: a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or person with protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status
- Travel, up to 10%, may be expected
- Business acumen and knowledge of current and emerging aerospace practices
- Diverse teaming and collaboration/facilitation skills
- Trusted Advisor relationship with Customers
- Ability to influence others to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches
- Significant experience in project planning and coordination, especially familiarity with Platform Hardware/Software processes and practices
- Familiarity with Space and Defense project management and secure practices
- Software development experience
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)
