Key responsibilities & impact- Own and improve analytical data infrastructure in BigQuery
- Assess and improve data structure, modelling and management for reliability, accessibility and scalability
- Collaborate with Engineering on infrastructure decisions, performance optimisation and cost efficiency
- Build and maintain reliable ETL/ELT data pipelines and models
- Establish consistent definitions, documentation and quality controls
- Analyse data and build dashboards for Product, Delivery and Commercial teams
- Demonstrate value to healthcare clients through meaningful analytics and reporting
- Ensure appropriate data is captured at source
- Identify data gaps and develop reliable measures of product adoption, clinical efficiency and patient outcomes
- Develop accessible self-service reporting tools
- Explore AI tools for safe access to and interpretation of trusted data
- Independently identify problems, prioritise improvements and introduce data best practices
- Collaborate with client-facing teams to turn data into meaningful insights
- Help shape Isla's data capability as the company grows
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong professional experience in data engineering or analytics engineering
- Ideally 5+ years working in data-focused roles
- Strong, hands-on SQL experience, including complex queries, data modelling and dataset investigation
- Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines, including data transformation, orchestration and automation
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms; ideally GCP and BigQuery, with AWS or Azure also valuable
- Strong proficiency in data engineering, including data pipelines, transformations and automation
- Python experience particularly valuable
- Experience designing scalable data warehouses, analytical layers and data structures
- Experience implementing testing, validation, monitoring and data quality frameworks
- Hands-on experience analysing complex datasets, developing metrics, building dashboards and producing insights
- Ability to independently own projects and improve how data is structured, managed and used
- Desirable: startup or scale-up data infrastructure experience
- Desirable: version control, CI/CD, automated testing and infrastructure-as-code
- Desirable: Firebase, Firestore or other NoSQL databases
- Desirable: customer-facing analytics products
- Desirable: healthcare data, sensitive information or regulated environments
- Desirable: data governance, access controls and security practices
