Role fitUse this summary to align your resume positioning with the role.
Demonstrates deep experience in compiler optimization and code generation for non-CPU targets, with a strong focus on scheduling, tiling, and resource allocation. Proficient in Python and familiar with C, C++, or Rust, with a track record of delivering performance optimizations for evolving hardware.
Tech Stack
Tools & technologiesAbout the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build compiler passes that turn lowered programs into code executed by the custom hardware
- Design compilation approaches where conventional approaches do not fit
- Schedule and place work and data across hardware resources
- Own fusion and dispatch decisions for LLM inference
- Work at the abstraction layer between the compiler and hardware
- Feed compiler constraints back to hardware architects during pre-silicon design
- Validate optimizations using simulators, FPGA prototypes, and later silicon
- Maintain a trusted performance regression suite
- Take lowered programs from frontend compiler engineers and decide which operations use generated code versus hand-tuned kernels
Requirements
What you’ll need- Deep experience with compiler optimization or code generation for accelerators or other non-CPU targets, including scheduling, tiling, fusion, or resource allocation
- Comfort working close to hardware, including memory bandwidth and utilization
- Willingness to design compilation approaches from first principles
- Track record of shipping optimizations that moved a measured performance number
- Comfort building software for evolving hardware, from simulation through bring-up
- Fluency in Python
- Familiarity with C, C++, or Rust
- Experience with PyTorch's compilation stack or other ML compilers is a bonus
- Experience compiling for in-memory, spatial, or other non-von-Neumann compute targets is a bonus
- Background in logic synthesis or place-and-route is a bonus
- Experience with cycle-level or performance simulators is a bonus
- Contributions to open-source compiler or kernel infrastructure are a bonus
- Publishing or presenting compiler or performance work is a bonus
