Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare and complete bid/submittal documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects
- Serve as lead estimator for projects
- Prepare estimates from quantity take-offs and complete computer-generated estimates
- Identify project elements critical to competitive estimating
- Review proposal specifications and drawings and attend pre-bid meetings
- Evaluate potential value-engineering cost savings
- Lead personnel preparing discipline sub-estimates
- Maintain working documents and data supporting estimate figures
- Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs using projected site conditions and historical data
- Prepare material and equipment listings and obtain quotes
- Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit, review, and validate quotes
- Complete client-required documents on time
- Draft scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects
- Review scope, technical requirements, and pricing with the Chief Estimator before formal bid submission
- Meet with Project Management at project turnover to explain scope and transition requirements
- Maintain estimating files and update the Rosendin-approved estimating program
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 4 years’ estimating or other relevant experience in closing construction estimates
- Experience in Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software preferred
- Experience in CAD or 3D software preferred
- Can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience
- Read and interpret blueprints and/or engineering design drawings
- Perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating
- Estimate all types of projects and coordinate and supervise group work effort
- Mentor and assist with the development of Estimators
- Identify and meet customers’ needs, expectations, and requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities
- Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements
- Oral and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, proactive, and effective team player
- Interact effectively and professionally with employees, management, vendors, clients, and others
- Up to 10% travel
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
