Key responsibilities & impact- Own the Partner API contract end to end, including resource design, versioning, deprecation, and backward compatibility across releases
- Design clear, consistent API resources
- Build the translation layer that keeps the public contract stable as internal systems evolve
- Work directly with partners’ engineering teams to support integrations
- Deliver partner-specific work when integrations require it
- Design error responses, idempotency, authentication, and rate limiting
- Implement usage metrics showing how partners use the API
- Keep the OpenAPI specification and developer documentation accurate and current
- Maintain contract tests to catch breaking changes before partners do
- Write and review production C# code
- Partner with QA and product
- Ship software through the release process
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7+ years of experience as a backend developer, including 3+ years building or maintaining a partner-facing or public API
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience is required
- Designed, shipped, and run a REST API used by external developers in production
- Maintained backward compatibility through API versions
- Contract-first experience with OpenAPI, schema evolution, deprecation policies, and changelogs
- Knowledge of API security and multi-tenancy, including API keys or OAuth 2.0 client credentials, scopes, tenant isolation, and quotas
- Experience placing a clean public contract in front of a complex internal domain
- Clear technical writing for partner developers in documentation and email
- Experience using AI coding agents
- Fluent in C#, ASP.NET Core, and SQL Server (MSSQL)
- Experience with Azure
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Experience with video and chat technology, including MS Teams and Slack
- Reliable high-speed internet connectivity
- Designated quiet work from home space
- Must be based in one of AL, AZ, FL, GA, KY, LA, MA, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TX, UT, VA, WA, or WI
