About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods using knowledge of product design, materials, chemicals, and production equipment capabilities
- Work closely with automation, engineering, and safety functions to execute change management
- Maintain quality control standards
- Maintain systems ensuring the quality of raw materials and finished products
- Support chemistry- and quality-related manufacturing issues
- Liaise between Research and Technology, Technical Service, Marketing and Sales, and Production
- Monitor and improve plant efficiency and output
- Ensure manufacturing processes operate at optimal levels to meet supply requirements
- Provide technical advice on plant operations and process improvements to Site Process Engineers
- Collaborate on engineering analyses, including preliminary design, detailed design, project cost analysis, life cycle cost analysis, and equipment selection
- Lead Site Process Engineers in applying Process Safety Management principles
- Apply mass, momentum, and heat transfer principles to process and equipment design
- Ensure operations and processes meet safety and environmental regulations
- Lead Corrective and Preventative Action documentation and responses
- Lead Site Process Engineers in root cause analysis and corrective action planning
Requirements
What you’ll need- B.S. in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- 7+ years of engineering experience in a PSM-regulated chemical manufacturing facility
- Knowledge of distributed process control systems such as Emerson DeltaV or Honeywell Experion
- Ability to work well with all levels of personnel throughout the facility
- Knowledge of process simulation software such as ASPEN
- Experience with batch and continuous chemical manufacturing methodologies
- Experience leading and facilitating root cause analysis and process hazard analysis
- Preferred: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
- Willingness to travel
